Winter is finally settling in around us. We have been getting little dustings of snow that have stayed and are accumulating to start our winter's snow pack. Hopefully, we'll get a decent amount of snow for all those who like to play in it one way or another this winter. We had our first below zero temperature when it got to -1 the night we slipped from November into December.

Jacob, our five-year-old grandson really got into cross country skiing last winter. Ely has the largest chapter of the Minnesota Youth Ski League. While classes are in session, they keep track of how far the kids ski and Jacob put on 60 last season! He's looking forward to getting back on his skis this winter. Anna and Carl get out skiing with him.

Carl has been working really hard the past couple of months making firewood. We've acquired a large, combination wood/oil furnace and will be heating our home with wood for the first time ever this winter. We've heated the shop with wood for most of the years it's been open.
